Where will you spend eternity? www.thegoodpersontest.com
Eric and his friends had just gotten through winning their game, and I walked w/ them toward their car as we talked about God, eternity, Heaven, Hell, and why people go there, and the love of God in the cross of Christ.

I'm a wife and a Mom. Jesus Christ saved me from my sins and eternal Hell as a teenager. My passion is Christ and that others may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the Father who sent Him. I love to spend time with other Christians who understand the pressing need to witness as Jesus commanded us!!!

I got the URL for this website off the back of card that had a picture of santa with a red bulb on the front. The basic idea behind the card was that god was going to send people to hell for behaving like they wish to behave. I see so many things wrong with your line of thought that i don't even know where to begin, but here's a list of questions you should probably answer for yourself before you continue living your life by the rules of a book that is neither consistent with reality or within itself.
Why did god give us a sinful nature?
Why does a loving god demand blood for sins?
How is it justice to give someone an eternal punishment for a finite sin?
If evil is something that displeases god, and jesus is god then wouldn't jesus doing something he didn't enjoy (like dying on the cross) be a sinful act?
Well, i might check back later and see you gave those a thought.
I am so glad you took the time to comment on the "Santa" tract! Really good, thoughtful questions! What's important is not just what we believe, but is what we believe the truth? Let me respond to each question:
1. Why did god give us a sinful nature? He didn't! God created everything good as stated in Genesis 1:31 "and God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was VERY good!" Man has rebelled against our good Creator and Life-giver. This is shown by our actions, evidenced by our conscience, (Romans 2:14-16) and the Law of God. (Romans 3:19,20) Man loves darkness rather than light (John 3:19), because our deeds are evil.
2. Why does a loving god demand blood for sins? God is love, but God is just. God, because He is good(morally excellent), cannot be bribed or corrupted, like an earthly judge. God will not bend His Law, and will judge us all according to the same standard. (Acts 17:31) The Bible tells us the life is in the blood. Jesus said unless we eat His flesh and drink His blood, we have no life in us. Here is the only work we can do to obtain eternal life: repent, (turn and agree with God we have sinned, forsake it) and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. IF we don't, remain in our transgressions, and God,again, because He is good, will demand an accounting for our thoughts and deeds. Nothing is hidden from the sight of Him with which we have to do! This same loving God showed His love for the world that whoever believes in the Son of God passes over from death to life. And THIS is the power of God shown: when a person repents and trusts in the Savior, a life is transformed, and grants them everlasting life. THe blood of Christ magnifies the love of God, and God gets the glory!
3. How is it justice to give someone an eternal punishment for a finite sin?
Because the sin is against an eternal God!
To try and illustrate: if you kick your brother, you've hurt your brother. If you strike a policeman, you've offended the law. But if you break God's Law-you've spit in the Face of the author of life.
Man cannot see God's Holiness apart from man's own sin and the infinite Being they've sinned against. God has given us His Word and His Son to reveal Himself to us. Christ has explained God. God became just and justifier at the cross! He condemned the righteous (Christ), and justified the wicked (us). That is incredulous, isn't it? God DECLARES you righteous through your belief! God hasn't left you without witness to your sin: creation, your consience, His Law, His Word..and He awaits your response.
4. If evil is something that displeases god, and jesus is god then wouldn't jesus doing something he didn't enjoy (like dying on the cross) be a sinful act?
You're right in saying that Jesus is God. Jesus , for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, despising its shame.(Heb. 12:2) God the Father turned His back on the Son, and Christ became sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God. Many people think Christ was fearful to go to the cross, but what he cried out in the garden, "if it be possible, take this cup from Me," was not fear, but the wrath of God on Christ! The full fury of God was poured out on His Son -so that by His stripes, we might be healed! (Isaiah 53) It pleased God to crush His own Son!
Read Romans 3: 21-26 This is an amazing text! God displayed Christ publicly as a demonstration of His righteousness (that blood sacrifice is demanded for sin, taking away His wrath.
Please, examine your own life, against the Law of God, and let your conscience speak. The soul that sins, it shall die. Once to die-then the Judgment. This life is so brief-only God knows the number of your days, that you might gain a heart of wisdom. I pray you call out to Him for salvation. Please respond if you have any more questions.
